A fine dark chocolate (60%) with cardamom and black pepper added as a seasoning.
The chocolate itself is also worth mentioning – the famous ‘Dos Rios’ of cocoa from the Dominican Republic with fairly unique flavors of bergamot, orange and lavender. Specifically achieved through a special and mysterious fermentation.
Taste note by the maker: Exotic cardamom makes a magical taste with a little bit of warmth from the black pepper. The Dos Rios chocolate gives a hint of bergamot and lavender that comes directly from the special cocoa beans.
Ingredients: cocoa beans, cane sugar, cocoa butter, cardamom, black pepper, vanilla beans.
Allergy note: may contain traces of peanuts, nuts, soy, wheat and milk.
The black pepper also says it is ‘single estate’ pepper, and as you can see, vanilla has also been added. Real vanilla of course. Amano is one of the few makers in our range who, in addition to cocoa & sugar, also add vanilla to their bars. Vanilla aroma often gives an unpleasant taste, but real vanilla can be a wonderful addition and Amano always adds it, which adds to the characteristic taste.
On the packaging there is also a proud mention ‘made in the USA’, kosher, and of course ‘artisan chocolate’.
