I now know the most important people who work in Chililique and the social and economic impact of cocoa – that is positive. The farm gate price is $ 3.20 per kilo of wet cocoa – the NY stock market price is currently $ 1.90 for dried (nut chocolate sellers: so much lighter) cocoa. Growing cocoa for export has much less physical work and a much better price than fruit, rice or coffee.
