A nice combination package of two chocolates from Original Beans: Fruits or Piura.
Both chocolate bars are made from cocoa from the Piura region in Peru. And as you will notice …. there is insanely a lot of difference!
We have the bars loose in the assortment but the makers had some chocolates with a short shelf life (end of March 2019), so we have gladly redeemed them to make our customers happy with it, of course including a great offer (!) . You can also rest assured that dark chocolate – if kept well – will remain good for a long time after the expiry date. You really do not have to have them all tested before the end of March ….
You get the combination set Fruitis or Piura twice. In it there are 4 bars: 2x Piura Malingas and 2x Piura Porcelana.
Both bars are fruity, accessible and simply delicious. But again very different.
You may already know something about cocoa. That there is influence of the type of cocoa fruit on the taste. That it matters where the cocoa tree grows for taste. But it is all much more exciting. Cocoa from the same area can also show an enormous diversity. Depending on the specific cocoa plantation, the weather conditions, the time of harvesting, how long the cocoa fermentes, how it is dried …
So much difference, only from the cocoa. For us as chocolate vendors this chocolate really makes something magical. When you consider that the chocolate makers of these bean to bar chocolates really have an eye for that. For cocoa, for the people who grow it, for nature around it. Then we say: we would like to delve into this. By tasting, comparing, reading now and then. Reading that a chocolate bar made from cocoa from Piura alone makes curious. Where is it? (North-West Peru), how do people live there? And one minute later we are on the site of the Municipalidad Provincial de Piura and we can – even with barely knowledge of the Spanish language – get an impression of the area. Beautiful.
And then it starts with the cocoa – though important – but the cocoa also goes through the hands & machines of the chocolate makers. Again there is so much variation possible. In the case of Original Beans, we definitely recommend browsing around their site. Original Beans makes the link between chocolate and cocoa very short, and passionate. A single example … in Congo they are campaigning against Ebola.
Ingredients: cocoa mass, cane sugar, cocoa butter.
Organic, vegan, gluten-free.
Both Piura bars are really delicious. And the price of € 2.50 per bar is worth it. The THT is therefore shorter (March 31) but of course the quality remains guaranteed. Pure chocolate is – well preserved and packed – tasted perfectly for a long time.
The Piura Malingas is unfortunately no longer made. So the very last chance to taste this special chocolate!
