French Broad
“We make awesome chocolate” is how they start on their website. And well, it’s true so why not say it out loud.
From the mountains near Asheville, where several national parks are located, and also where the French Broad River is, the story starts with a meeting at a wedding between Dan and Jael. Then a trip to Costa Rico.
Vanuit de bergen bij Asheville, plek van diverse nationale parken, waar ook de French Broad River stroomt, begon het verhaal met de ontmoeting tussen Dan en Jael op een bruiloft, en daarna een reis naar Costa Rica. here they eventually bought an expired cocoa plantation and started their cafe and pastry shop “Bread & Chocolate.”
Life on the coast passed, and so the couple ended up in Asheville, North Carolina, and the French Broad Chocolate Lounge began in 2008.
The love for cocoa & chocolate remained and grew and they started making their own chocolate in 2012. Bean to bar so.
We love a beautiful company that radiates the story & personality of the owners in everything.
A lot of attention for sustainable work, and they seem to be able to convey the story of cocoa and chocolate like no other. Their very personal story, open and – seems – very genuine.
The chocolate itself also has great quality! The dark origine bars seem to have gotten a bit darker roast then what we are used to, and we personally have to still get used to them a bit. But they have a a recognizable own style & of course still a very nice taste experience.
We can be brief about milk chocolate, we think they are pretty perfect .
