That white chocolate is only sweet and boring – it really doesn’t have to be.
In many supermarket bars, the cocoa butter is stripped of its taste, by so-called ‘deodorizing’ (deodorizing) – in fact, like many processes of the chocolate there, simply out of necessity: the cocoa used is not of good quality, in other words: not really very tasty. As cheap as possible, and with artifice (we think it) something is made of it. With extra additives, with quite high roasting (burning) and a few scoops of extra sugar. And so even remove the taste before the cocoa butter ends up in a chocolate.
Anyway, that’s not how it goes here – you see – not.
This chocolate from Heinde & Verre is certainly also a white chocolate, but certainly also tasty – just its own. And good too. And therefore nice for and who has always liked to enjoy (good) white chocolate, but also who had previously had less good experiences with what is in the supermarket that has no other taste than sweet and even more sweet.
Taste note from the makers: lychee, whipped cream, cocoa, grenache blanc wine grapes, custard, lively fruity finish.
We tasted the first time and to start with, we mainly tasted a strong taste of … banana! Can of course also differ per batch, but it is great how much fruity you can taste, also in white chocolate. And we also like the creamy structure.
Ingredients: cocoa butter, beet sugar, cow’s milk, sunflower lecithin.
Allergy note: contains milk.
Made with milk & beet sugar from the Netherlands and cocoa from Peru. In other words … ingredients from far and close combined. So Van Heinde & Verre.
Nice piece of extra background about this chocolate, the cocoa farmers who grow the cocoa for it, etcetera, on the site of Heinde & Verre itself, and here.
Furthermore, the makers wrote:
“Vibrant Peru White 37%, the all natural white bar without any additives. The natural flavor of this chocolate is so vibrant, rich and creamy that it does not require vanilla or flavoring. Please note as we have not made any additives. To this white chocolate, the bar acts like fresh dairy products. It must be consumed within a day or so, otherwise it loses its delicate and fresh flavor. “
