Right at the announcement (in August 2020) we started to rejoice. Lime & Ginger!
And luckily Marou lives up to our expectations, we really like this chocolate.
It is a dark chocolate with cocoa from the province of Ba Ria. For those who don’t know yet: Marou makes chocolate in Vietnam (Ho Chi Ming City), with cocoa from Vietnam, directly from the cocoa farmers, from various Vietnamese regions. The combination has been sought with local ingredients – just like with the earlier ‘Origin Plus’ chocolates from Marou – so not only ingredients that combine well with this particular cocoa, but are also grown in the same region. In this case: lime & ginger, and therefore also: grown in Ba Ria, Vietnam.
We like ginger and citrus, and are also very fond of this choice with this cocoa. The Ba Ria from Marou is their most fruity chocolate, the bar has quite a bit of acidity in itself. And here the taste of the lime comes through and over. The ginger is not predominant but gives a nice warming and (in our opinion) very slightly spicy taste.
We think the combination is very successful. And recommend this chocolate extra for:
Anyone who already knows and appreciates Marou chocolates
Lovers of fine citrus flavors
Anyone who appreciates chocolate with ginger but doesn’t have to be too intense for you
Who wants to taste what a local Vietnamese chocolate maker knows how to make beautiful things with local cocoa and local ingredients
Ingredients: cocoa, cane sugar, cocoa butter, ginger, lime.
65.5% cocoa, 1% lime, 0.5% ginger.
