If something is voted ‘the best chocolate in the world’, something magical happens right away. We noticed that at the Guasare Venezuela of Soma.
We already loved Soma, and recommend everyone to order all their chocolates and enjoy it in peace. But when their chocolate won 3 gold medals and the ‘best in show’ at the International Chocolate Awards, their chocolate suddenly became a whole lot more popular. And that makes us happy. Because even if awards don’t say everything, it is nice if they ensure that more people are interested in good chocolate from good cocoa. Fair trade is a matter of course and you love to pay more for something really special.
Anyway, the Guasare mania continues in our web store for a while. And for ourselves the Soma adoration too. We certainly match their delicious Ucayali Peru, which won no prizes and is barely ordering, but is just as refined and amazing. Oh yeah.
For lovers of Guasare, or in general cocoa from beautiful Venezuela, this chocolate from Morin is now also available. And don’t think that Morin will just hitch a ride on a hype (we ourselves, maybe) – Morin has been making chocolate from this cocoa for years. In addition to all the very many other cocoa that Morin manages to get from everywhere. It remains impressive.
Nice to compare with the implementation of Soma of course. To order together. Or with other cocoa chocolates from Venezuela. Such as the Chuao, another place surrounded by many myths.
Taste note from the maker: This northern Venezuelan cocoa starts with notes of biscuit followed by hints of sour fruit and a floral finish. Leaves a pleasant, soft feeling in the mouth.
Ingredients: cocoa, cane sugar, cocoa butter, sunflower lecithin.
Allergy note of the maker: may contain traces of milk, nuts and sesame.
