One of the newest chocolates from Soma. Choroni, Aragua, Venezuela 70%.
Description of the makers: “Among the independent cocoa producers who dedicate their love and attention to the coastal areas of Venezuela, Vincente Ramón Fuentes Zapata is located in the Finca Torres, a historic farm in the Henri Pittier national park near Chuao & Ocumare. consists of forests, mountains and coast, and houses hundreds of different birds and plants.
The farm is one of only 6 haciendas in the area famous for its criollo varieties – a disappearing legacy. We were very happy when we received 3 bags from the annual production of only one and a half tons. These beans show characteristics of the classic Venezuelan mix-up of coastal criollo.
NB. From the start of Chocolate Vendors, we have already tasted the fruits of Finca Torres with love, namely the Idilio 12 called ‘Finca Torres’ – indeed – with cocoa from the same Vincente Fuentes, and the same plantation. At that bar, via the link above, you can also read more in a scientific study that is linked there. Nice nice.
