Description
Cocoa crossing the ocean with sailing ship De Avontuur. From Belize to Hamburg entirely on the strength of the wind. Beautiful right?
Zotter made not one but two nice and tasty chocolates from this cocoa. This variant has 82% cocoa – if you think that is too intense (not too bad) there is also the 72% version. Also nice to order together and to compare them.
Soft in structure, creamy, slightly drying (tannins), and certainly nutty and of course with this percentage with some dark tones.
As Zotter puts it:
“Ahoy! Cocoa sets course: this cocoa has been transported by sailboat from Belize to Hamburg in collaboration with the great Brigantes crew, making it a completely emission-free and sustainable journey. A single origin chocolate with a fantastic life cycle rating score and a cocoa content of 82 %. The chocolate is slightly bitter and offers a wide aroma spectrum. The secret is: real Maya cocoa.
Fragrance notes: nutty notes, notes of dried fruit (plums, cherries)
Taste notes: nutty praline, cream, caramel notes, mild notes of spice and fruit: hints of cranberry and plum, intense sour cherry aroma, mild tannin in the aftertaste ”
Ingredients: cocoa, cane sugar, cocoa butter.
Fair traded & organic.
Allergy note from the makers: may contain all traces of nuts, peanuts, milk, sesame and soy.
Also interesting, read a little more about how Zotter goes beyond standard fair trade.
