75% dark chocolate from cocoa from Colombia – made into chocolate by Zotter in Austria.
Further background of Zotter himself:
‘Cocoa instead of cocaine’ (Cocoa instead of cocaine) is a project that gives small farmers in Colombia a chance to liberate themselves from their dependence on the drugs mafia, illegality and poverty. Since 2010 we have been working with the Austrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the United Nations through UNODC and the government of Colombia to make this project possible and it was anything but easy to grow cocoa instead of cocaine.
That is why we are so pleased that 234 farmers in one of the poorest regions of northwest Colombia, around Choco (!) And Acandi, now grow fair trade cocoa instead of cocaine. The small farmers of the Acandi-APROCAFA live in the middle of nature and travel for hours along the river to sell this special cocoa. It is the first fair-trade organic cacai of an ‘alternative cultivation’ project in Colombia.
Ingredients: cocoa mass, cane sugar, cocoa butter.
